            NEW YORK, March X, 2006 – When it comes to men, Ivana Trump’s motto is “I’d rather be a babysitter than a nurse.” In Oxygen’s new two-hour reality special, Ivana Young Man, produced by Stone & Company, the famous socialite and businesswoman uses her mantra and life experience to help  a 40-year-old millionairess bachelorette select a younger boyfriend of her very own.  In Ivana Young Man, premiering Saturday, April 29 at 8 pm*, Ivana makes it her mission to expose the gold-diggers and find the guy with the heart of gold.

            The special follows Kathy, a millionaire and divorced mother of two, who wants to date a young man but doesn’t know where to start. Enter Ivana Trump. The former model, world-class skier, novelist and famous ex-wife handpicks six 20-something suitors for Kathy and gives them several challenges to prove if they have the sophistication and the sincerity to win the millionairess’ heart.  The challenges include testing the handsome but socially inexperienced men at New York’s most elegant restaurant and providing $2500 to the finalists to buy Kathy an appropriate gift.

Matchmaker Ivana even goes as far as planting her own young boyfriend (AKA Paolo) among the group to get the scoop on every word said in Kathy’s absence. The bachelorette’s future is in Ivana’s bejeweled hands as she eliminates Kathy’s favorite suitor and outs one of the cocky gents when she learns he still lives with his parents.   Ultimately, the unlucky contenders not up to Ivana’s standards are dismissed in The Bedroom with her very own catchphrase that rivals the Donald’s.

When the same thing happened to a close friend, The Donald’s ex-wife decided to do something about it. She created a reality TV show to find her pal, 40-year-old millionaire Kathy Dahl, a younger guy. The program, Ivana Young Man, turned out to be too cheesy for Fox, which commissioned it as a series, so it will air at 8 tonight on Oxygen as a one-night special. One of the candidates to become Dahl’s boy toy is 25-year-old Evan Golden of Parkland. Like many who appear on reality shows, Golden hopes to use the program as a springboard to a bigger show business career. His major credit to date is A-List TV, which had a brief run on Pax. He’s currently working as an Associate Producer for United States Media Television, a production company based in Coral Springs. The plan, he said, is to get back in front of the camera as host of an entertainment program. Nevertheless, Golden went into Ivana Young Man, a cross between The Bachelorette and The Apprentice — in place of a boardroom, decisions are made in a bedroom — with an open mind just in case he became Dahl’s choice. “I never dated an older woman but age is just a number and her money was enticing,” he said. Golden competed against five other candidates for Dahl’s attention. They went through physical and mental challenges as well as a personal interview and a private date. The extremely self-confident Golden said his strategy was to be himself, “cool, quirky and outgoing.” He can’t reveal the outcome but says he is pleased: “I couldn’t be happier with the results.” This doesn’t mean he won. Manhunting with Ivana Apr. 15, 2006. 01:00 AM JIM BAWDEN In the crazy world of “Unreality TV” nothing can possibly be quite as wacky as the special Ivana Young Man. It plays like a desperate satire on all those terrible shows like The Bachelor except everything here gets turned upside down. First, the host is Ivana Trump. Women are usually offered as bait on these things with very little to say. Ivana is offered up as a sage marital counsellor who intervenes in the love affairs of forty-something wealthy divorcée Kathy Dahl. Where Kathy comes from is never really explained. Why she would want to flaunt her loneliness in front of the cameras is passed by, although she’s so wealthy she possibly could buy the TV production company making this special.Where Ivana finds the six twentysomething “studs” (the press report’s description, not mine) is even more problematical. They all look like vacuous New York models, and they positively salivate at the mere mention of Kathy’s riches. The program notes talk about a “new twist to the May-December romance theme” – but when did 40 become December? “She’s a hot lil’ mama” is one stud’s reaction to Kathy. Another frets that national TV viewers now know he still lives with his parents. One stunt has Ivana doling out $2,500 (U.S.) and seeing what the three remaining candidates will do with the money in the way of a gift for Kathy. One guy gets her roses and a $250 shirt for himself, which shows his “gigolo” light is already flashing. Ivana’s instructions are more basic. “Get some balls!” she orders one man. And far from making up her own mind (assuming she has one), Kathy defers to Ivana. Is that because Ivana is footing the bills, or what? It is Ivana who keeps lining up the studs to mutter, “You are not desired!” Excuse me, but desired by whom? Kathy hasn’t said a thing and is as surprised as the rest of us by Ivana’s choices. “This is silly!” snaps the usually composed Kathy after Ivana eliminates the clear favourite. Silly? How about sordid? And at the dragged out ending my thoughts can be summed up in this heartfelt plea: “Ivana get outta my life.” Tuesday at 9 p.m. on W Network.

Ivana Trump’s Reality Women Scared Away From Show by Jealous Exes  4/12/06The producers of Ivana Trump’s new reality TV show were forced to scour America for the right older womanseeking a younger lover, because many ex-husbands objected to the concept of the series.The former wife of Donald Trump will help a “mature lady” hunt for a suitable toy boy on Ivana Young Man, but she admits finding the right star of the show has been tougher than expected.She says, “My producers saw about 5,000 ladies. It was very difficult because some of the ladies, the ex-husband would say, ‘If you’re going to go on any kind of variety show, I’m gonna take (the) children away from you.’ It was like power play.” The producers of the new show also spent the best part of a year looking for the six guys who will compete for Trump’s favor and her guest’s heart. She adds, “We went through guys from all walks of life – some of them are fun, some of them are really good guys, we have a few jerks.”

The same cannot be said for his ex-wife Ivana – not yet, anyhow. Last summer, the former and first Mrs. Trump starred in a reality TV project of her own for Fox. But “Ivana Young Man,” in which the Czech-born former model helped a fortysomething divorcée choose from among a gaggle of young male suitors, has yet to see the light of prime time. And it’s unclear if it ever will. Fox commissioned the project as a two-hour special. It was shot early last fall in Manhattan. But the network has no plans to air it, according to a Fox spokeswoman. Producer Scott Stone (“The Mole,” “The Joe Schmo Show”) said he has not received an official no from Fox, but he conceded that it doesn’t look promising. However, he said, he is happy with the way the show turned out. “It’s really, really funny,” said Stone. “If it doesn’t air on Fox,” he said, “I will do everything in my power to see that it airs somewhere else. “I am a champion of the fortysomething women in this world who deserve to date younger men,” he added. The show has six men vying for the attention of Kathy Dahl, a fortysomething divorced mom from Minnesota. Trump acts as her fairy godmother, guiding Dahl through the romantic minefield. The men perform a series of challenges, physical and intellectual. At the conclusion of each challenge, Dahl chooses one of the suitors to spend quality time with alone. “Thousands and thousands of guys applied to be on the show,” Trump told the Daily News last fall. “Some of them were crazy. Some of them were so much into themselves.” Trump’s thirtysomething boyfriend, Rossano Rubicondi, an Italian dancer and model, was also involved in the show. He was one of the six suitors whom Dahl was to choose among. He was given the stage name Paulo and, according to Stone, his true identity would be revealed to Dahl, but not to the other contestants, enabling him to act as Dahl’s informant. “Ivana loves the show and she stands behind it,” said Stone, adding that he is talking with Trump about other projects. “I think of my relationship with Ivana as one that is going to last a long time. I’ve attached myself to the more lovable Trump.” Trump, meanwhile, is following in her ex-husband’s footsteps, having recently ventured into real estate with a multimillion-dollar Las Vegas high-rise, complete with a $35 million, 20,000-square-foot penthouse. Work on the 82-story tower begins next year and is scheduled to be completed by 2008. “There is tremendous interest from Ivana’s public [about the show],” Trump’s spokeswoman, Catherine Saxton, said yesterday. “And we want to make sure they get to see it.”
